Error Code 775
I recently noticed that my Directv Genie 2 Tower has a yellow light on top and the bottom light is green. When I turn on my tv's I see the error code 775. I was advised that my Genie 2 needed to be replaced. Is this accurate? The service worked okay earlier in the day and when I turned the tv on last night that's when I saw the error message 775.

Hi, thank you for the information. I now have my service with DIRECTV back up and running. On my Genie 2 that was replaced I was originally told that it never needed to be replaced but I was only able to view the saved recordings. When the tech arrived today he replaced my Genie 2 with my replacement and I lost all of my saved recordings. Do you know if there is a way to recover the saved recordings that were on my old Genie 2? I never know what to believe as some of the information I am provided through Technical supports varies and never holds true. If there is a way to recover the saved recordings or have them transferred to the new Genie 2 please let me know. Per my last conversation with Tech support I was told if the Genie 2 ever goes out and requires replacement the saved recordings will be lost and will always require a replacement in order to have the service back up and running. Please let me know if you are able to provide any input or information about this situation.

775 usually means there is a bad connection some where between the Genie 2 and dish. I would check all the coax cable connections. Unscrew them and look to see if there are any corroded or burnt looking connections. The center conductor should extend out past the end of the screw on nut slightly. Screw it back on making sure it is tight. It's best to use a wrench and just tighten it slightly more than finger tight.

To confirm the coax cable that is connected to the back of the Genie 2 needs to be unscrewed and checked? The other plug in type is connected to the adapter that I am guessing controls the wireless feature for the Genie mini clients in the home?

Correct. Also check where that cable connects to the wall if there is a wall plate. Also if there are any connections you can access outside where the cable comes from the dish you will want to check those.

Hello,
I have been told only a technician with DIRECTV can correct the 775 code. Is there a way I can fix this myself? I have checked all connections on the Genie 2 and reset all receivers.

Be sure to also check the coax cable connections at your dish. If those all check out and you're still getting the 775 error, then you pretty much need a tech to diagnose the issue.

Now I am seeing error code 612. Is there a phone number that can be contacted that actually is able to address these codes? I've called all the numbers I know of and they don't seem to know how to handle a trouble shooting session over the phone. The service came back on for a while after checking the cables outside. The light on my Genie 2 on top is blue and the bottom light is green. I am wanting to use my original Genie 2 that has all of my recordings saved.

Error code 612 refers to the Genie Mini not being able to connect to the main Genie Server ....

The DirecTV support number is in my signature below. It's time to call for a service visit.

The recordings are lost and cannot be preserved. They cannot be transferred as all recordings are attached to the Receiver ID that recorded them.

To confirm if this Genie 2 ever has to be replaced in the future all recordings will be lost? Does Directv not have some sort of cloud where they store customer recordings? I know if a Wireless Genie mini is replaced it does not affect this type of service.
