Error message 14-091
Was watching TV today until my receiver went out and gave me 14-091 message. Tried resetting and then called Customer Service, whi said I need a new receiver which I won't get until Friday (5 days later). Anyone else have this issue and did you do anything to correct the issue? I should mention I'm on an area where we had remnants of hurricane, but when my TV went out storms had just passed. Any suggestions?

It's a disk failure. Yes, you will need a replacement receiver. You will lose all your recordings, unfortunately. Usually caused by a power surge or lightning strike,
I recommend you get a UPS for your replacement receiver.

Aren't my recordings on my drive? What’s a UPS?

Yes your recordings are on your drive. So by replacing it they are lost as they cannot transfer as they are encrypted to the exact DVR that recorded them. Even if you are using an external hard drive they are still lost because of that encryption.
UPS = Uninterruptable Power Supply so a surge protector/battery backup device.

I didn't experience any lightning or lose power though, so not sure how that happened. Just rain.
One final question - I read I can watch regular TV even though my receiver is bad. Is that correct? If yes, how do I do that? Thank you for all your help.

Well "regular" TV normally refers to traditional locals. You would have a antenna plugged into your ANT port on the TV and change your TV's input to it.
If you mean live satellite channels as opposed to what is recorded, unfortunately your DVR has failed to the point you cannot use it for anything in the meantime.

So, I turned my tv and receiver off and the receiver light keeps turning back on. Why is that happening?

Depending which light is turning on, it may be trying to record as scheduled or is trying to power back on because of a power issue to begin with.
Either way, since the box is not usable just unplug it from power. And leave it alone as you are replacing it.
