Genie 2 and Over the Air Antenna
Has anyone had success connecting an antenna to their Genie 2 system to pick up over the air local channels? Directv Customer Support advised me that the antenna they were supplying is not compatible with Genie 2 but I could probably order one through Amazon. I did purchase an antenna but cannot get the Genie 2 to recognize the channels. If you have had success, details would be appreciated.

No antenna can be connected directly to a DTV receiver, you connect it to the TVs digital tuner then use the TV remote to change the input and control the channels. The LCC device AFAIK still doesn't work on the HS17 Genie2.

Antennas ALWAYS connect to the TV never a dtv receiver if you want the ota channels integrated into the dtv guide then you need the LCC ( local channel connector) but they aren't compatible with the genie 2.

Why can't Directv just add channels like
Metv, GetTV Cozi,AntennaTV,GritTV,Comet,This,Decades,Bounce,Justice,Charge,TBD,Buzzr,Movies,Grio,Laff,CourtvFaveTV,StartTV,H&I,Create,Stadium
I'm sure there is more.
JUST LOOK AT ALL THE REPEATED CHANNELS ACROSS DIRECTV

They need a contract with each and they don't have the bandwidth to carry the thousands of sub channels.

DirecTV needs a carriage agreement. Without paying the channels for permission, they cannot be added. So far there has not been enough bandwidth to add all the sub-channels across the country. Remember not everybody gets the same locals as they are owned by different local affiliate stations.
As this thread is from about 2 years ago, it is suggested to start a new thread or find a recent relevant one for discussion to avoid outdated information. That the Genie-2 (HS17) still does not support the Local Channel Connect (LCC) that has been in testing.
