Genie mini C51-100
Requested replacement dvr and was sent genie mini now what?
My understanding is that Genie Mini is only a client to a DVR but does not record itself

What are the models of each box you have?
Which one was being replaced? (and why?)
What did the order confirmation sent the day it was requested say?
A Client takes a tuner away from the Genie. So when you tell it to record, that is recording on the Genie itself. So think of it like both TVs working off the same DVR. I agree it is better to have an HDDVR instead of a Client as you get 2 tuners, 500GB recording space, can still watch what is recorded on each other, and no difference in monthly cost.

HR24 is an HDDVR. Warranty replacement is like for like. So an HDDVR (specifically HR24 as that is the last regular HDDVR made), should have been shipped.
A Mini Genie Client is not like for like, so it is an "upgrade" which comes with a 24 month service agreement. If Mini Genie Client with agreement was shown on the order confirmation, calling and canceling the order should have been done.
Call DirecTV (their specific number, not AT&T) and request return of non-activated equipment. Might say "cancel" at the voice prompt as you may need a more experienced retention agent to provide you the correct processes. They should be able to place the correct order as well for the warranty replacement.
Normally it is $19.95 delivery for a warranty replacement (covered if you are subscribed to their optional Equipment Protection Plan), but I would ask if they could reduce that for the inconvenience of the wrong order placed.
