Genie mini turns off for 1 minute at 5:51a.m.

Genie mini box turns off for a minute at 5:51a.m., and then turns back on.  Had the box replaced, but new one does the same.

Something to do with a setting on the main DVR box?

It's a problem because if I just turn off the TV at night, leaving the Genie on, when it cycles  (at 5:51a.m.), and turns on, it sends a signal to turn on the TV.  At 5:52 a.m. TV comes on.  Not good.

What Genie DVR model number?

What Mini Genie model number?

Have you tried also resetting the main Genie DVR?

I've just reset the DVR (Model HR 54-700), will send a reply if and when the problem returns.  The 5:51am power cycle problem was happening about once a week or so, although late last week it happened two days in a row.  The Genie DVR by the way is only turned on rarely.

The Genie mini (Model C61-100C-R) is left on 24hrs with TV being turned on and off.   I recall it was advised that I should periodically turn the Genie mini on and off, which was done once the day before one of these power cycle a.m. problems happened, so that doesn't seem to be a solution.

(An usual thing happened about 9am today, while operating the Genie mini rewinding backwards and forwards in time on the currently running show, during 3X forward wind the wind froze and winding and rewinding controls no longer worked.  Changing channels did not fix the problem, it resulted in blank (white/grey or black) screens.  Resetting the DVR fixed the problem.)

Is it connected to a power supply? Had some calls where they're set up so if the control device power cycles the power supply cuts power to everything. Makes it seem haunted if the control device is, say, a laptop set to install updates at a certain time when they're available and it resets for that.

Checked, unfortunately the Genie DVR is just plugged into a power strip that is plugged into wall outlet.  (Will put a digital clock on that same power strip, which will 'alert' us in if the power to the strip is ever cutting in and out.)

Reset the Genie DVR, but the problem happened again, and at precisely the same time - 5:51am

Gonna live with the problem.   Swapping out the Genie DVR not worth it.  Will shut the Genie Mini off each night rather than just the TV.  There are some disadvantages to this, but is a solution.   Thanks for responding and helping.

Very puzzling. Let us know if you figure out this one!

Ok, happened a couple more times.  Couple theories -- it's a signal reboot or failure having to do with the sateilite, or it's the Genie DVR's response to overload (same channel on for many hours, all that recording?).  Got plenty of recording space left - 56% free.

First, it happened again this morning, same time as before.  The same Genie mini had been ON all night, with TV off, it power cycled and TV turned on at 5:54am.   Verified it was not a power problem on either the Genie mini or the Genie DVR, I had digital clocks on the same power strip for both.  Had the power cycled, the clocks would have shut off too, and restarted at 12:00.  They did not.

Second, it happened AGAIN, less than 12 hours later, at 4:35pm.  This time the Genie DVR had been on, and verified that it cycled as well.  No one was watching at the time, but was identified by scrolling backwards to see when the cutoff was.  (Curiously, it came back up a little later, at 4:52pm.  Takes a little longer to come back up?)  The Genie DVR and 2 Genie mini were on at the time.  (Overload?).  Unclear whether the second Genie mini had cycled as well.  The watcher (who reading the paper with sound off)  claims it did not.  Channels were changed, so couldn't scroll back to tell absolutely.

Will be big deal if a critical minute lost while viewing (as in critical moment in football game).  But more important, the storing of past 1 1/2 hr is a great feature we count on and use.  For those of us who have a habit of going away from the TV for a bit, we count on being able to 'look back' when you come back - past 1 1/2hr is lost.  (Of course same thing if you inadvertently change channels.)  Will keep you posted.

Now turning off for a minute on all boxes most days, once.

Most common at 5:52am, but some days at other times (afternoon, evening).

Is that going to be a permanent thing?

Hopefully not.  There are many I'm sure that like the scroll back feature, and base viewing plans on using it.  The past 90 minutes that are stored at all times are lost every time there is one of these turnoffs, that can be a real bummer depending on circumstances.  Thanks

So you still haven't figured it out. Bummer. Very puzzling.

I think I misread that these are turnoff/turn back on programmed in from your end (?).   If not - a mystery, will leave it at that.

Thanks

Nope. There's nothing on DirecTV's end that would cause this. It's very puzzling.
