Genie receiver goes out every Thursday
Ever since we were foreced by directv to get the genies, which we hate by the way. We have had issues loosing out local channels several times a month. For the last 2 to 3 months we have lost the local channels every thursday at 8 pm pacific time. We watch many of the shows that are on the local stations so we end up missing all of thursday nights prime time shows. We work on those nights so its not like we can refresh the receivers. Several nights when we tried to refresh them we couldn't because it said they were upgrading their system.
Has anyone else had this issue?
We are beyond frustrated and considering dropping directv. Which says a lot as we have been with them since the late 90s.

What are the exact models of all your boxes?
The only required replacement of equipment would be if you had MPEG-2/SD-only boxes which are very outdated. DirecTV has been shutting down the MPEG-2 feeds so everybody must have MPEG-4 equipment going forward. Hopefully they didn't replace any HDDVRs (or R22s) with Mini Genie Clients as full receivers work with the regular Genie line.
Going out every Thursday is extremely unusual. Is it just your locals this happens on? Is it all locals or certain ones?
I would verify coax is finger tight on all boxes. Do a red button reset on the main Genie, then when completed any Mini Genie Clients. Finally any full receivers you have. If needed you can unplug power for a minute, in the same order for the full power cycle. I would also refresh your service authorizations to be safe, which you can do even away from home: www.directv.com/refresh
If still not working then you will need to call DirecTV. With being on specific channels on a very regular interval there is a good chance there is an issue with the broadcast feed for that set. If not already a known issue they can submit a trouble ticket.
