Genie Remote to Samsung TV

Good morning all, I have a Samsung QN90B(2022 model) Smart TV I purchased earlier this year. It is not syncing with my Genie RC-73 remote. I cannot control the on/off or volume functions of the tv with the DIRECTV remote.

I have the remote in RF mode and it controls my receiver which is housed in a closet without issue. I have gone through the 66 DIRECTV codes that is supposed to work with Samsung and not a one works. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply but I had seen that page before and tried all the different options to get my Genie remote to operate my Samsung tv without success.

I am having the same issue. Can control Directv receiver but not the Samsung qn90b. Tried all the codes. The instructions tell you to put in TV input mode - which you can't do on the RC73. There isn't a separate input button for TV on that remote.

Those instructions are for the RC6X remotes. You need to press and hold the enter button until the light blinks twice then release then press again to cycle through the TV inputs, but doing that will not program the remote for the TV.

To manually enter Samsung code press and hold mute and select until light double blinks. Enter 1 and wait a couple seconds then enter 2051.

Also, remember TV control is IR so there must be a clear line of sight between the remote and the IR sensor on the TV.

As soon as I put this code in my tv (Samsung QN60BA) turns off with power off from RC73 but then turns right back on.

This all started after a recent update to the GENIE'S ONLY. My DVR box has a Samsung TV as well and it works just fine still with remote control functionality.

What's the deal DirecTV?!

Customer Service on the phone, online and or social media know nothing and offer nothing in the way of a fix.

You can't dump on Samsung TV owners.. You will continue to lose more customers per quarter than you ever have..

What DVR/client boxes do you have? Sounds like a CEC problem.

Genie thin units. Had them for almost 9 years. Last week received updates on them and that's when these issues started. Nothing has changed on the TV's.

I have same problem. Have two Samsung TVs that no longer turn off properly when the off button pressed on DTV remote.

This is all because of a recent update to the Genie boxes that DirecTV knows about but is doing nothing about. You get more information on the Reddit forum than you will here. But still no actual fix.

So frustrating!!  At least I know it’s not just me having a problem

can you still turn CEC off on the Genie Mini? I have not looked at mine yet since the update. I know they eliminated the ability to turn it on and off in my Gemini.

(you said thin boxes, which could be either, but you have the standard remote for the Genie Mini).

unbelievable, I saw recent updates.

Now you cannot change ANYTHING in a Genie Mini!!!

(Edited per community guidelines) !!!!

This is insane... continuing to remove our ability to configure the system, but removing the options that we need to avoid problems, like the stupid CEC on all the time...

Very disappointed in DTV going backwards in terms of quality of the product.

options have also been removed from the Gemini also, where I could configure it's connection.

Again, this would be fine if the system worked correctly, but it has many software flaws. Removing options that allow some of use to work around the flaws is wrong, since the flaws still exist, I've had my system for a year, and the reliability is not measurably improved.
