Is this the only receiver you have? --Do you have a Swm LNB on the dish? a Legacy LNB will Not work with swm- have you ever had swm service where your setting up your new genie?
The Hr54 can provide power to the swm LNB if connected properly
Yes, there’s only one receiver. I don’t think there’s a LNB on the dish.?
The dish is over ten years old in the same location. The new genie receiver was shipped for replacement. The set up instructions appear simple as long as the WMS is detected. Is it possible a WMS connector is necessary?
If this is your first Genie, a tech visit was required. Especially if setup is 10 years old or more as that strongly indicates you are on the old setup that is not compatible since the Genie is SWM-only.
Before any further problems happen, what are the models of every box you have? Were you adding a TV or just looking to upgrade your existing setup?
Oops, I meant SWM. Looks like a tech visit is necessary. Figured the direct tv person would have let me know when the new receiver was ordered.
Just upgrading one receiver. The old one is model H24 200, manufactured in 2011. Guessing that would explain why the new genie isn’t compatible with our setup. Thanks!!
H24 is SWM compatible, but sounds like you are on the old multiswitch. A tech visit is absolutely necessary, and most likely a new receiving dish as well.
A Genie upgrade will add $10 DVR and $3 Whole Home DVR. You should already have the $10 for HD service.
Personally, the Genie is a bit much for a single TV home. I normally would suggest a regular HDDVR, but those are hard to come by these days as new ones haven't been made. Hopefully in the future SWM-only HDDVRs, other than the Genie models, would be made but will have to see what the new co-owner does.

Are you connecting it to the red power pass through on the SWM splitter?
