Genie2 and 4k genie

Hi, i just got a new install- genie2 and 4k genie together with a splitter to one tv 2022 4k samsung qn90b model. Is this a proper equipment? Why did they upgrade me to genie2 rather than genie hr54? Also, do i need the 4k genie, if tv is already a 4k? Thanks

If you only have a single TV, then the Genie-2 (HS17) and 4K Mini Genie (C61K) was the correct option.

The 3rd generation Genie (HR54) doesn't have a 4K output itself so must use the 4K Client. Even if both boxes are on the same TV, it bills as a 2 TV household (so adding the $7 additional TV/Client fee). This is because the original Genie line is a full receiver intended to go on a TV.

The HS17 doesn't go on a TV at all being just a server tower for the Clients. So does not count as if you had a 2nd TV (unless system/billing error which has been seen a few times).

Yes you need the C61K. The TV cannot magically change the broadcast to 4K at the source. The C61K delivers the feed in 4K to begin with (if 4K channel and program). If you didn't have the C61K, the TV might try to 'upscale' programming but that is not true 4K. Even if you upscale Little House on the Prairie, Leave it to Beaver, or Charlie Chaplin your TV cannot go back to the broadcast creation and make it 4K to begin with.

If you got a HS-17 is does not have any Port to connect directly to any TV --If you have a C61K-700 -It has a HDMI Connection -is that split to the other 4K TV? You need a C61K to View Directv Channels 104-107 in 4K ---Splitting that signal you can only watch the same channel on both 4K Tv's.

However, using streaming Apps on Both 4k TV's you can view Streaming 4k at will.

I have only one tv. Genie2 is connected to a splitter, and the other split goes to the 4k genie. then 4k genie with hdmi to tv. I have a dish, notstreaming. My question is that the proper equipment? i.e. Genie 2 rather than genie 1?
