Getting :too many active locations" on several minis.
I spoke with "help" and after an hour, the TV's all worked. They all started again the next day. Is there a sequence that will reset all minis? I have four minis, two connected to cable and four that are wireless.
We are very frustrated.
Please help

Thanks Juniper. If I may ask, how do I get the other box, etc.?

You call DirecTV and request to upgrade your Genie to the Genie-2. It does come with a 24 month service agreement and would require a tech to install since you would be running one more coax to where the box is put. Hopefully this also catches any cabling concerns you might have that could be related to the prior issue.
Be prepared you lose PiP since Clients can only use a single tuner each. And recordings do not transfer since they are encrypted to your exact box, so be comfortably caught up first.
As mentioned, if besides your 6 Clients (and main Genie) you have any dedicated receivers/HDDVRs, or plan to ever have more than 7 TVs (though that is a lot already), do not do this upgrade as it is designed as an all-in-one setup that doesn't have additional flexibility.

Hi Christian:
I guarantee it will go out again later today or at the latest tomorrow. I need all new hardware. My equipment is the original setup from six years ago. The perplexing issue is that this never occurred before last week and now it’s every day. If it goes out again your company is forcing me to go to another provider. I have been a customer in three previous homes for many, many years. Look up my history. You don’t want to lose me.

Thanks Juniper. You certainly are more help than DirecTV is. Have a pleasant weekend.

When you are logged into the forum a box with lines appears next to the bell icon when DTVhelp sends a PM/DM.

Being from 6 years ago does not mean you need all new hardware. Satellite tech doesn't advance quickly and can last a decade or two and be fine.
Since the Genie is the brains for all Clients, what assigns the tuners (active locations), at the very least it is likely your main box needs replacing. A warranty replacement is $19.95 delivery and would net a HR44 or HR54 (depending on stock).
Because your setup is too much for the regular Genie (you really should not have more than 3 Clients for it), that is why I suggest the Genie-2 as is built for up to a 7 TV setup.
If you had money to burn I would suggest keeping your Genie and replacing every Client with an HDDVR. Before they moved away from dedicated boxes I would have suggested every free upgrade to get an HDDVR to make sure you never went over the 3 Client limit at the very least.
