Guide fails to retain info for HD channels

Receiver type HR23/700 running software 0xd49 (Tue 4/20), no phone line connected, internet connected via hardwire from router

1) The receiver will populate all the "schedule list" aka Guide, after a red-button reset or power cycle. Within an hour or so all of the HD channels have dropped the info with "to be announced" showing in the channel fields. The SD channels still have proper guide info extended out a week or so as normal. This just started happening about a week ago (~12/23/21). The HD channels themselves work properly, I can select and watch just fine.

2) The receiver has auto-refreshed several times to download software since 4/20 so not sure why it shows an 8 month old version.

3) The receiver shows successful internet connection with result 88-443. On the website side, managing equipment shows it is "offline". 4) Sending a refresh signal from the website appears to have no effect. Should this "push" through the satellite connection?

This is "clear my box"' You won't lose any recordings.

Do you feel like your DIRECTV DVR is acting weird? Do you think you’ve missed recordings and have some unexplained issues? Have you tried resetting the DVR and feel like it hasn’t helped? There’s a new way to clear out some of the cobwebs from the inside of the DVR and it’s very easy to do.

Press the {MENU} button then choose Search&Browse, Smart Search, and press {SELECT}. Input the following into the search window:

CLEARMYBOX

then press SELECT. Then with “All” highlighted press {SELECT} again. The DVR should reboot by itself within a few seconds. It’s going to take a while to reboot but when it’s done, it will have cleared its guide data database and several other little bits inside. This may help you with missed recordings or even general sluggishness. However, there is a possibility you will lose all your channel logos and on demand for a period of a day or so. This is perfectly normal and everything should return soon.

I'm thinking about this but FYI your software version is the correct current version for your receiver.

Have you tried a "clear my box"?

Thanks for the info on the software load.

I don't know what "clear my box" is, so I haven't tried it - I don't want to dump the hard drive and lose all the old recordings though. If this is the "reset" in the settings menu that will reset everything including the hard drive I believe.

Thanks, TexasBrit, for taking the time to lay that out for me. The CLEARMYBOX has different results anyway, now some of the HD channels have kept their data for at least a half-hour and others have "Title Not Available", so I'm guessing it just needs some time to download. Will report back in tomorrow :)

I must say probably the fastest help response from you & the DIRECTV representative that I've gotten from online help facilities.

Yes, it will take a day or 2 to download all the sat guide data from the sat and the On Demand guide data from the internet.

Hopefully the options above getting your current box (HR23) working again. The "clear my box" or even unplugging power for a minute causes a dump of guide data that is usually back within 24-48hrs.

If it turns out the box is going out, then call DirecTV for a warranty replacement. That is $19.95 delivery or covered if you pay for the monthly equipment protection plan. You should receive an HR24 (last regular HDDVR made) if any are in stock. Recordings from your current box do not transfer.

Expect that an agent will take the opportunity of a warranty replacement to offer an upgrade instead. Depends on your exact setup if replacement or upgrade would be the best way to go. If you end up at the option of replacing the box, post back with all model numbers you have so the community can give guidance before you talk to an agent, so you are armed with good information.

Well, it lasted a little over 12 hours before the Guide dumped the HD channel info, so that's some progress I suppose. Time to face the reality that this box may be kaput.

Thanks to all for their help and insight.

The other possibilities are that you have a faulty LNB or your dish setting in the receiver is incorrect. Make sure the setting matches your actual dish type.
