Help re-aligning satellite after new roof install

Hello,

We had a new roof put on our house.  I am trying to self diagnose realigning the satellite.   I have leveled the pole on the roof and used a couple webistes/apps to determine the azimuth and elevation.

On signal meters for 101 degree I have

Tuner 1 97%

Tuner 2 98%

Tuner 3 96%

Tuner 4 97%

Tuner 5 97%

Which leads me to believe i have the satellite aligned correctly.   However, Satellite Transponders are:

1-8      0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0

9-16    0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0

17-24  0  0  0  0  0  96 98 97

25-32  98 96 97 96 98 96 98 95

When I run a test I get 1 test failed:

Diagnostic Code 41-271

Any help available would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks....Jonathan

Your dish is centered (aimed) at the wrong satellite. Those readings mean that your dish is aimed at the 119ºW satellite, not the 101ºW satellite. You can try reaiming the dish yourself, or call DirecTV for a service visit.

To confirm what litzdog posted. You are pointed at the wrong satellite. There is nothing in the signal meters that tells you which satellite you are seeing. You can see from the transponder pattern this is the 119 satellite not 101.

Hi Shannon,

The videos I have found are for aligning the satellite via the signal meters.  Many said over 90% is good and I am 95-100%. Is there another video you could direct me to that will help with what I may be missing ?   Im confused as to why transponders 1-21 are at 0 and 22-32 are at 96%+?

The built in meters work just as well but the problem is seeing them, if you have a small TV you can take the receiver and power inserter and TV with the cables to the dish or have someone relay the readings.

@martywd

Most likely they simply don't have enough installers in your area. It's not hard to do so perhaps you can have a friend check out some YouTube videos and do it for you.
