hooking up digital and analog componets to DVR

Hi There,
I would like to improve my Sony DVS2P DVD player viewing by finally removing the VCR from my home entertainment system because I've had it with the speckles. In my original set-up I managed to get the analog and digital components to work well together. But now that I'm losing "my VCR source" I'm a little lost.

The components I want to re-combine together are my Directv DVR Model R16-300; I listen to TV and DVDs through my Sony Amp TA-AV521 and 4 speakers and I watch everything through my Samsung TV Model UN32N5300.

Can you direct me on how best to put these components back together so I can see DVDs clearly through my Samsung TV and hear TV and DVDs through my Amp and Speakers.
Thank You Very Much!

Even if you get it to work, it will not really be worth it. The R16 is the last MPEG-2/SD-only DVR that DirecTV made (R22 is a special MPEG-4 hybrid). DirecTV is processing the full shutdown of their MPEG-2 feeds as they are very outdated. So that box will soon be worthless.

You will need to call DirecTV for their complimentary MPEG swap, or to do an optional upgrade, depending on your preferences. Be aware that a new receiving dish will most likely be installed as well.

If you have any other boxes, what models are they? Best to get guidance from experienced customers before calling to get what would be optimized for your personal setup.
