How can I get a defective remote replaced?

My remote is. It working correctly. Every time I try to fast forward, or rewind, it won’t stop until I keep clicking it and sometime have to get directly in from if the green light in the box. Same thing with pausing it.

What is the remote model? This seems more because your remote is in IR mode than the fact that it is defective.

If it is defective, you can order a new remote online from websites like Amazon, eBay, or Solid Signal. You may also go through DIRECTV and call them for a new remote (number in my greeting below). If you have the Protection Plan with DIRECTV, a new remote is free of charge.

What model remote?

Are you in IR or RF mode?

Model of DirecTV box?

Have you verified front of box is clear for line of site and clean? (matters for IR).

Batteries verified to be good?

If remote needs replaced, then online (Amazon, Solid Signal, etc.) would be a good option. You can purchase from DirecTV but at full cost as individual purchase. Other retailers must have gotten a bulk discount so can offer lower.

But if you are paying for the optional equipment protection plan, then call DirecTV as remote replacment is free. Though that plan is arguably not a good value overall for many.

like the experts have mentioned, if you have the protection plan, you can order a replacement from Directv.  I did mine online (no need to talk w/agent) and rec'd in 2-3 days.
