How can I make a connection between my HD Receivers and Genie?

I want to make a connection between my HD Receivers and Genie HR44-700. I want to share the playlist from the Genie to non-dvr receivers.

HD Receiver

  1. HD Receiver H23
  2. HD Receiver H24 x2
  3. HD Receiver H25

When DirecTV installed the Genie you should have had access to the recordings from the start.

Are all your HD boxes on the same coax network/receiving dish as the Genie?

On the Genie go into your Whole Home settings and verify that "Share Playlist" is set to ON/YES.

And if connected to your home internet, only the Genie is connected (regardless of wired or wireless) and the other boxes do not have a separate connection?

Okay, I will try to set that.

Every single box you have MUST be on the same satellite dish in order to share Whole Home DVR, the name for DirecTV's Multi Room Viewing (MRV). In this setup, only the Genie is connected to internet (as provides that connection to all the other boxes).

In your prior thread you described a setup that included 6 satellite dishes all for DirecTV and that each receiver box was on a separate dish (Mini Genie, or Gemini, being Clients cannot work at all unless on the same setup as the main Genie). That made absolutely no sense.

If boxes are not on the same physical setup, they CANNOT share Whole Home.

From your prior explanation, it sounds like your setup was so wrong the tech didn't want to do the work to fix it. Until your setup is installed correctly, Whole Home cannot be shared.

Sorry this is not as simple as changing a setting. To get Whole Home working, somebody needs to install your entire setup correctly.

Did you move in to a place that had this weird setup, or did somebody at home DIY the whole thing instead of having an actual DirecTV tech do the initial install?

Before the year 2024, I had an HR22 HD DVR before I got a upgrade for an H24, my HR22 had a DECA connected and it was receiving the playlist from the Genie.

I will try to track down the wires myself and see what the problem is.

One satellite dish on the roof will serve all your boxes. That is a shared coax network on how any HDDVR (Genie or regular) shares their playlist with the others. So either you have several dishes not in use, or somebody messed up royally by connecting each box to their own dish. One account - One Dish.

(Exception: Box in a detached garage or such uses a separate dish if too far to run coax from the main one. But that box cannot share Whole Home because of that).

Only the Genie should be connected to your internet, otherwise it can cause conflicts for the others (including Whole Home issues).

Replacing an HR22 with an H24 may have used an "upgrade" order, but that is a downgrade in capability as you got rid of DVR on that TV and replaced it with Autotune (unless the user of the TV really wanted the other feature). No change in the monthly bill. So seems an odd choice to me.

Hope this info helps.
