How to connect VCR/DVD with new receiver that was mailed to me

I switched out receivers and got a new one via the mail. I think i have it set up the same way the previous receiver was. But, a technician did my first two installations, because my first receiver was bad and they brought me a second one. So, I'm just guessing on this third install. The TV appears to get no signal at all from the dvd/vcr no matter what input I use. The cables look right. I'm puzzled.

So how did you connect the outputs of the DVD/VCR to your TV?

Do tapes and DVDs play OK?

I can't get logged in to the forum, so I'll email reply.

Apparently, the original installation never included hooking up the dvd/vcr to the TV. When I got the new receiver, I simply plugged all the cables into it as they had been plugged in to the previous receiver. I thought that I had used the dvd/vcr since I had gotten my DirecTV service. I guess not.

SO, I have RCA cables (red, yellow, white) from the bottom row of RCA plugs of the D12-100 receiver to the back of the TV. But, I don't have anything connecting the dvd/vcr to the satellite receiver or the TV.

I have a spare RCA cable and a CATV cable. What is the best way to hook the dvd/vcr up?

It's all outlined step-by-step in the sticky post that I linked to early in post #2.  The D12 has two sets of AV outputs.  One set can connect directly to the TV.  The other set connects to the match DVD/VCR inputs, with the DVD/VCR outputs connected to another set of TV inputs.

Cool. Thx.I'll try the RCA cable hook up.

I can't log in to the forum since the first time I did. Not sure why. Seems weird to me. I didn't see any instructions for cable hook ups when I was at the forum even at that thread about . Are you a DirecTV employee? Because, if you are, I'd really like to thank you for helping me out and doing the job you're getting paid to do which I "assume" includes customer service. Sorry to have put you out if that's not, indeed, part of your job description.

I have some more questions. Is there someone I can deal with besides you? I don't want to put you out. Perhaps you have a supervisor you can get to come on this thread?

Dobrien, we are all customers like yourself so there is no "supervisor" to come to this thread. Perhaps you can ask the other questions that you still have and one of us will answe your queries

Go ahead and ask away.  Create a new user account if you can't use your old one anymore.
