How to return receivers we no longer need
We have 4 receivers and have discovered that we really only need 1. How do we return the 3 receivers we no longer need and stop paying the lease for them, but keep our overall service and the 1 receiver?

Call DirecTV. Phone number below. They will let you know if they should be returned or recycled.

Call DirecTV and request to deactivate the boxes you no longer want. Depends on their models on which ones may need to go back (and which one might be the best to keep depending on your needs).
Returnable boxes are taken to a participating FedEx/The UPS Store for the free return. Make sure you have your account number when you go. Absolutely get receipt showing what they took possession of. Any boxes not accepted for return you take to your local electronics recycling.
Technically you're not paying any lease for the boxes themselves. The $7 is the TV fee which is the same whether the box is owned by DirecTV (leased), owned by you as the consumer (legacy option no longer available), or an RVU TV that needs no box of its own. Any lease cost is one-time up front when you ordered the box if you didn't have a free option.
