HR24 and HR44 room swap

I have an HR24-100 in the living room and an HR44-500 in the basement. We aren’t in the basement very often so I want to swap locations of the units.

The HR24 has two input cables while the HR44 has only one.  I understand the HR24 is for each of the inputs. (Not a big deal as it won’t be used often enough.)

Can I do this easily? (Use SWM from input 1 on the 24 where the single SWM port into the 44?)

Do you have two satellite dishes? If the HR24 has two coaxial connections and the HR44 only has one, this means both are on different systems. Please confirm.

Assuming that both boxes are connected to the same dish, then you should have one satellite cable connected to the HR24's SAT1/SWM INPUT.

Genie (HR44 is 2nd generation) uses Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) which means one cable, no matter how many tuners the box has.

Accordingly the HR24 should also have one cable if it is on the same receiving dish setup. To have 2 cables suggests it is on the older multiswitch, which only makes sense if for some reason it is on a separate dish that wasn't updated to SWM.

If you have 2 dishes, then the Genie install wasn't done right as both should be on the same setup. Otherwise something doesn't add up here.

There is only one dish, with lines going to each receiver. 2 to one, 1 to the other.

I haven’t looked at the cabling coming out of the dish on the roof, just see the lines coming down on the wall.

Remove the SAT2 INPUT cable from your HR24. Most likely it will continue to work just fine.
