hs17 - performance as of 2022?
I'm thinking of upgrading to the hs17 with 2 wired clients and curious what the current performance experience is with this setup. is there any lag on the clients. on my current setup which is 9 years old, an hr34 DVR and c31 client the client in the bedroom is pretty laggy and since I have just two tvs in the house both of which are 4k I am leaning towards the hs17 to get a 4k client on each. I have considered the hr54 but I don't need pip and like the thought of having the smaller clients on each tv and the server in the basement. does 30second skip still work on hs17? is performance just as good on each client as if a receiver box was connected on the tv?

The HS17 is now considered a very reliable server-based DVR option. In fact, that's pretty much all they're installing these days. Your HR34 was junk when it was launched, and it's only gotten worse. You'll be happy with an HS17 upgrade.

You will like it much better -than what you have been using --If you have 4K tv's get the c61K-700 min --the HS-17 Does NOT direct connect to ant TV --(as it no Video output ports) only send video out over (rg6) to the mini's

HS17 is not perfect! There are issues with the receiver / Genie 2 being recognized by the Apple Directv app. Can't connect and can not register it to the account!

what apple directv app? There isn't one. Maybe you are confusing Directv satellite with the streaming service/.

The HS17 is better than when first launched. I will give it that.
I personally prefer a Genie and 2 HDDVRs. My household needs the 9 tuners to avoid recording conflicts, plus having individual settings on each TV. The Clients are extensions of the main box, so parental controls, recording list, etc. are not separated. Plus, if main box goes down, for any reason, all your TVs go with it.

Careful. There are two different providers DirecTV (which is satellite) and the new one DIRECTV STREAM (formally AT&T TV /AT&T TV NOW and before that it was DIRECTV NOW).
Nobody is saying the HS17 is perfect, only that it has improved and very reliable in most cases. I am simply against the restrictive design and hope the new co-owner revitalizes equipment innovation.

Perhaps an update, they list it on the official page now.

although they cancelled my install 3 times I eventually got the hs17 installed last week along with 2 4k clients. everything is working great and performance is much improved over my 2010 system. one issue I'm having that I probably need to call in on is that the DirecTV app is no longer working correctly, not allowing me to play live tv and not finding the new hs17

For the DirecTV App, first try deleting the App and reinstalling it.

I also tried deleting and reinstalling the iOS app. Never had this issue with my prior Directv DVR’s.

The HS17 is a good unit with speedy connectivity - other than the iOS issue I would recommend it.

Not sure what you're asking. The HS17 Genie Server can be connected to your home network via ethernet cable or WiFi. And it supports both wired and wireless Genie Mini Clients.
