Did you reset the Genie as well as the mini?

If your tv says it is waiting for a signal - it may be on the wrong input (source)

I would check the exact message. I doubt the waiting for signal message says "receiver". In that case it would be a TV message, usually that it is on the wrong input/source or the HDMI cord is unplugged (or loose) on one end.
If that doesn't fix it, then what is the exact error message and what are the models of boxes you have (and which one is the problem one)?
