Installation authorization

Our tenants had a DIRECTV dish installed on the roof without our knowledge or consent.

How could this have happened? A signed Landlord Authorization form is required, no?
If they claimed to be the homeowner, what proof is required?

Under their lease agreement with us they were not permitted to make modifications to the house without our approval and consent.

Their lease is over, they have moved out and the dish remains.  I will have to hire a roofer to remove it.  Since the dish is apparently the tenant’s property, can I legally dispose of it?

The tenant accepting install signs off they have authorization and are taking responsibility. In general, the tech doesn't need anything signed from you. It is suggested for the tenant to have such a form for their own protection.

Upon install, all the equipment except the receiver/client boxes, becomes part of the property. As such you may have it removed if you so wish. It is suggested to leave the mounting plate to avoid leaks.

LNB goes to electronic recycling and rest of it just simple metal recycling. Or offer it up to someone who needs a dish or would like one to repurpose it for a project.

To avoid leaks you may want to leave the mounting plate attached to the roof. The rest can be removed easily and disposed of.
