Integrating DirecTV Receiver with Amazon Fire TV Cube
I am having some problems integrating my DirecTV receiver (HR54-700) with my new Amazon Fire Cube. As I understand it, I should be able to plug the receiver into the HDMI input jack on the Fire Cube and then be able to manage it with audible commands via the Cube. However, during the setup process in which I add equipment to be managed by the Cube, I get to a point where I am told to "using your remote(s), switch to your satellite receiver. When a channel appears..." I then use my DirecTV remote to try to go to the satellite receiver but nothing happens and I cannot get off of this screen.
Can anybody help me go through the setup process?

Hello Roger. The remote was originally set in RF mode. I found some information from an online source that suggested that the remote should be set to IR mode so I made this change and tried the process again. I still got the same result which was no response.
One thing that I am not sure of is what buttons on the DirecTV remote I should press in order to "...switch to the satellite receiver..." as requested by the Amazon Cube prompts on the TV screen. I basically tried all of them (i.e., ON, OFF, Right Arrow, Left Arrow, etc.) and nothing happened.

The old style DirecTV remote (RC6X series) has a mode selection switch, allowing you to change from Satellite, to TV only, AV1 or AV2 for accessories.
The new remote (RC7X series) which is for the 2nd generation Genie (HR44) and up, does not have a mode selection. It is only for connecting to DirecTV and the TV set.

I think it is asking for what HDMI input the DTV receiver is connected to as there is no button on the DTV remotes to switch to satellite receiver.

Perhaps then it means to change to the input DirecTV is on. Assuming your have the Genie (RC7X) remote, if you press and hold the ENTER button it will use the INPUT function (says "input" right next to that button).
Hope that clears it up. If not, more details please.
