LG streaming apps don't work when directv is connected to tv via hdmi.

If I disconnect the Directv hdmi cable from the LG tv, the streaming apps, Netflix/Prime/Hulu work fine.  If the Directv cable is connected to the tv, streaming apps quit within 1-3 seconds.

Switching cables or inputs didn't work

But turning off the HDMI-CEC worked great.

Of course they do.

OTOH, they may have a point.  Do you have anything else with HDMI output that you could connect instead of the DIRECTV Receiver?  A laptop perhaps?  If it happens with multiple HDMI devices, then it's a TV problem.  If it's only the DIRECTV receiver, then...

If the TV has HDMI-CEC, turn it off. Also do not use a 'smart' power strip. These sometimes cause issues for DirecTV boxes connected to newer, especially 'smart' TVs.

Possible that there is some unusual quirk about the LG TV, which isn't an issue in general, but makes an unintended interaction with DirecTV equipment.

This combination of LG tv and DirecTV has worked well for over 4 years.  This problem only started a week ago.

Then it's time to swap things around ....

  • Try a different HDMI cable
  • Try different TV HDMI INPUTs
  • Try a different HDMI device on that TV, such as a DVD Player or streaming stick

See if you can isolate the problem to the TV or the DirecTV box. Also, what model is your DirecTV box?
