locals showing wrong channels

Yesterday at our tailgate, I got everything set up, but couldn't watch my locals because they were showing the wrong channels.  e.g. the local NBC station was showing the Movie Channel.  The guide actully displyed the correct information, but the pictures were showing something else entirely.  All other channels, (ESPN, et al) worked fine.  I live in Brandon, MS 39047.  I was using a standard receiver with an 18x20" 3LNB dish.  I had great signals from all three satellites, including the 119 which has my locals.  I called DTV while there, and they sent a new signal to the box and I pushed the red button to reset the receiver.  Nothing worked.  As such, I couldn't watch Alabama v. Arkansas.  Arghh!  Please help, so my next tailgate is not a disaster like this one was.  Thanks.

The guide information is downloaded to reflect the geographic location of your service address.  However, the actual broadcast of the local station signal is from spot beams aimed at your service address.  Once you leave the spot beam area, no more local channels.  Thus Litzdog's question.

That's about 125 miles from Jackson but according to the locals lookup both ZIPs get the same locals.  You had a setup problem of some sort.

Are you sure you set the correct dish type in satellite setup when you connected the receiver to the dish? Is the dish you are connecting to a Phase III 3lnb dish or a slimline 3? If you set the wrong dish type, it can seem you are getting good signals from 119 but they are really duplicates of the 101 signals, and when you select a local channel you will actually receive the channel on the 101 satellite that's in the same transponder location as the one you were expecting from 119....

Well, I selected the Phase 3 LNB 18x20", multiswitch.  I'll attach pictures of the satellite.

Yes, that's clearly a Phase III dish !!

It still looks like a channel mapping issue, maybe the 22KHz tone that selects 119 was not getting to the dish for some reason. . Try setting up the dish in your driveway using the same cable and see what happens.

So, I tested on my deck, and the correct locals were showing.
