Moving Direct TV receiver to a different room

Hello all,

I am looking to move my DirecTV main receiver and it's power cord (HR54-500) to a different room that was already connected to a second Direct TV receiver (C61K-700) that we are dropping from our plan.

In other words, I want to move the main (HR54-500) to the room where the (C61K-700) was already connected. Am I able to do this by myself or will a DirecTV technician need to make the switch?

Hello @plsfield, we're here to help!

If you're moving the main receiver, the best option is getting everything done with help of one of our specialists. Please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums), to work on scheduling a tech appointment as soon as possible.

We'll be waiting for you.

The HR54 doesn't output 4K and is most likely powering the SWM LNB on the dish arm so you have to connect the coax from that room to the red power pass through port on the SWM splitter.

This you can do yourself if you follow the provided gudiance. You do not need to pay for a tech visit, unless you were moving to a location that wasn't hooked up with the coax.

As mentioned, the C61K (Client, not receiver) is the only 4K box from DirecTV. Though the HR54 is needed for the 4K setup, the 4K requirements changed when it was too far into production so does not have a compatible HDMI out port to deliver the 4K itself.
