New Dell monitor with speaker - get no sound using c61-500

Does the C61 work on other TVs?

I currently have a C51-700 mini from DirecTV.  I called DirecTV and they are sending me a C61-500.  I have my doubts this will work. 

I am trying to connecting to a new Dell monitor S2722QC.  I am not sure why the internal monitor speaker are not playing any sound.  The DirecTV video looks good on the monitor. I am assuming the HDMI connection from the C51 or C61 should have sound that the Dell monitor should recognize that being analog audio.  Maybe it looking for something else like digital audio.  I am a bit confused whether I can find a solution that works.

I am not sure I will be able to get this new monitor to play sound.

And yes, the c51-700 works fine on a regular Samsung TV with HDMI inputs.

Monitors are not TVs so this maybe a Dell problem, You are correct a C61 will not work.

thanks for your feedback.  I suspect nothing will make a monitor act like a TV.  Just seems strange that sounds works fine connect via HDMI to my PC.  So why wouldn't HDMI to a monitor with internal speakers work as well.  Must have something to do with selling more TV's or smart TV's.

DirecTV boxes are designed to work with TVs. Computer monitors are designed to receive input from a video card. Most likely the two are incompatible as weren't designed to work together.

In any case, DirecTV cannot guarantee if the model they send is either. It is next on the shelf. Any warranty replacements would be same model or newer, so you are only sure you will not get a C31 or C41.

Your Monitor- look at your Settings in the display for audio type --try different settings --I suggest you also Call Dell support they will help you as well
