New Hd Box but not HD Dish
I have a DIRECTV box that was replaced by DIRECTV. The box I used to have was for my satellite dish that’s been on my roof for many years that isn’t an HD dish will this new box work with it. The new box they sent me is a H24-200 box.

You’ll need to call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and have them send out a technician per the SD SWAP policy. Since your dish is MPEG2/SD, they are required to replace it for free. This includes a new dish, LNB, power inserter, maintenance in needed, the new HD receiver, etc. IT IS their mistake that you didn’t get a tech visit the first time around.

The agent made an error. If you don't have a HD/MPEG-4 setup, then a tech was required. Call DirecTV back to correct this.
DirecTV is shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. A MPEG swap should be no cost on the equipment and no new service agreement. Requires a tech to update you to SWM as well as install a new dish.

So basically you’re saying I need a new dish for it to work. The reason I’m asking is because I have an old dish on my roof in Florida and I live in New York and I bring the box with me when I go there for the winter and because they upgraded the box to an H24-200 reciever means I definitely need a dish correct. Any particular places where I can get an HD dish that would work with this for a decent price I don’t need one that’s too expensive it’s just when I’m in Florida for those few months.

Gotcha. DIRECTV likely won’t help since the service address you need an installation/maintenance at isn’t actually matching the Florida home address. You can buy a DIRECTV SL3 SLIMLINE HD DISH on Solid Signal, Amazon, eBay, etc. The current one you have on your Florida home is likely an 18 inch dish or 18x20 which uses a different sized pole than the newer ones. Therefore, you wouldn’t be able to reuse either the old dish pole or the mounting. A non-penetrating mount, tripod mount, or other mobile mount for the new HD dish is preferable. Unless, of course, you are comfortable climbing on the roof and installing a new pole with bolts for the dish. ON TOP of what was previously stated, you need to remove any multi switches off the old dish (if any) and have a simple coaxial run from the SWM LNB on the new dish to a 21 OR 29V power inverter to power the LNB. Then, labeled “SIGNAL TO RECEIVER” on the SWM power inserter goes to the SWM port on the H24.
To ensure a successful installation, you’ll definitely need these tools and equipment:
1/2 inch wrench/socket, 7/16 inch wrench/socket, Philips screwdriver, needle nose pliers, preferably an impact drill if you plan to install a new pole to the roof
A Level to ensure the pole is plumb (or else signal will not come in), coaxial cable makers if the current cable isn’t long enough or has issues, dishpointer.com info for the SL3 setup information (azimuth, elevation, and skew for Florida address).
You should also have an HDMI cable, HDTV, and obviously a LADDER if you plan to climb the roof. Otherwise, a simple non-penetrating mount or tripod mount is a good temporary setup.
DISH SUPPLIES:
SWM-capable LNB (SL3 or SL5)
POWER INSERTER 21V OR 29V
DIRECTV DISH (includes back assembly, 2 inch OD pole and mounting base unit with holes, LNB arm, and reflector itself which catches the signal from the LNB)
There are several mounting ideas for mounting. Whichever works best for you is fine. There’s an under eave mount (available on Solid Signal), a stub mount (doesn’t need monopoles/two support arms), and a regular mount which needs two support arms/monopoles and an additional couple holes.
IF YOU CAN get the supplies but don’t want to install the whole system, you can have a third-party do it:

Also, just so you know...
Technically those different places are supposed to have their own account and equipment. Your locals, allowed sports teams, and taxes you are required to pay are based on the physical service address. So not only do you not get all the channels you are supposed to, but that State is missing your taxes.
You can suspend each account up to 6 months within a 12 month period. That way you only pay (correctly) for the one in use, get your correct local and RSN channels, plus don't have to transport the box back and forth.
Satellite transmission is one-way, so it is not reporting back location. But by not having the correct physical service address with all boxes at the same location is a violation of the service.

yes, that’s good to buy. With that kit it appears you get both the standard mount and the stub mount so you aren’t restricted to just one mounting method. It all depends on the height of your roof and if a regular mount is required to get the mast level. With a regular mount you need the additional couple holes for the support arm as stated before. If you use a stub mount you don’t need the extra mounting arms and holes in the roof.
Here are two videos showing setup and aiming:

Thank you for the input on those YouTube videos I really appreciate it .I was also just made aware that I could actually hook up the H 24 box and go into my settings on the box and change it to an 18 inch round dish and use it as a standard receiver. Is that even possible to do

Those settings 'might' work temporarily. But with the MPEG-4 shutdown you would still be on borrowed time until it bricks your setup. Plan to update the connections as soon as possible.
I would even consider calling DirecTV and speaking to their Movers 2nd Home department (or whatever it is called now) to check options on the other place having its own account. That way you get the standard installation for what is currently needed. May also save you some money and hassle then getting all the parts and doing the work yourself. Food for thought.

To confirm, those settings do work since the H24 is non-SWM capable. But, as juniper stated , MPEG2/SD feeds that the 18 inch dish receives are being phased out. Therefore, you’ll need to replace the dish sometime very soon anyway. (Why not do it now?)
