new HD interface
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the new HD interface software download other than having to wait for it by market download. I was told by associats at direct that the software its released by market. I really think that's hogwash I have been a loyal customer since 1999 and having to wait for a service that I'm already paying for is a bunch of double talk. So anyway as I was asking does anyone know if there is a way to get the software any sooner then having to wait for their market selections.

no, you do have to wait. it IS done by market. They do this to keep too many people calling in at the same time with complaints. So each area downloads, they deal with the complaints (ignore them), then move to the next market.
I wouldnt be in such a rush for it. I've called demanding the old guide back (to no avail). I cant read the new guide due to the color and font. And the new guide took away all the customization options to make it readable. The new guide is a giant F*ck you pointed at the customers. If you dont like the way they have it, tough.

As we posted elsewhere, there were no guide customizations with the old guide.....

The time delayed download may well be due to the extreme amount of data to download in the background. Easier to do a few hundred thousand at a time rather than maybe 40 million all at once.

Got it yesterday and it has a new color scheme and scrolls fast. I don't understand why people are so anxious to get it right away. It's not a big deal except for the people trying to use the composite outputs, for them it's a negative. It doesn't do anything that the old guide can't do. Be patient.

It looks decent, but why they removed the channel icons from the main guide screen is beyond me. I could swear that the channel icons appeared also when browsing the channels from the main guide screen, and not just in the banner. So why would they take away a feature in an upgrade? I thought that was really cool in the old guide, and now I guess it's just gone. Wow, I would not think that would be something to take away. Fine that they still appear in the banner, but again, I could swear they also used to appear on the main guide screen.

Bad advice! It's too easy to accidentally download test software that might cause more problems than it's worth. Best to just wait until your DVR/Receiver gets the software automatically.
