new receiver will not turn on

Hi there - we have a new receiver that I would like to activate - but I cannot get the receiver to turn on - manually or by remote.  I've tried plugging the receiver into different plugs, but still cannot get it to come on.  Any ideas?

Verify that the AC power cord is properly attached on the D12.

Where did you get this Receiver?

Call DirecTV to request a replacement Receiver/DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.  Or ~$50 to have a tech come replace it for you.

Thanks for your response!  As far as I can tell, the AC power cord is properly attached.  I got this receiver directly from DirecTV - they sent it to me as a replacement receiver.  We've had the DirecTV service for many years - this is not a new installation - it's a replacement receiver.  I'm not sure how that affects getting another receiver.
