New Remote?
I just ordered Directv with whole house DVR. They told me that I was getting the new touch screen remote. Does anyone have any information on this remote?

Yes thanks tivoburkee, I just got off the phone with customer service again and I am thankful I called them back about the remote. First, we talked about the new touch screen remote, It does not exist. Great. Then we discussed the receiver. I was supposed to get the HR 34. Thats not out yet, its coming early 2012. I had to cancel the order because they lied to me. I guess I have to continue using Dish.

HR34s are currently only available to new subscribers in selected markets. Should be available directly from DirecTV in a couple of months for everyone else. In the mean time, if you really want one, you can find them at a few selected dealers (Value Electronics, Solid Signal).

I was going to be a new customer and get the HR34 for free. That was one of the reasons I was going to get Direct. They are available now also, I spoke to them again. They told me 3 lies to get me as a new customer. Very disappointed with the lies from customer service

The HR34 should be $99 for new customers. If you're getting one free, that's amazing.

Also not true. The HR34 can interface to new Samsung "RVU" HDTVs, and no additional DirecTV Receiver is needed. But the HR34 is also just a fancy HD DVR with 5-tuners and other cool features.

Just a quick question for you guys. Directv CS said that with a whole house DVR connected to 4 TV's, I will be able to watch 3 different programs on 3 different TV's at the same time. I this correct?

Yes, and yes.
With 4 TVs you'll likely get one HR34 and 3 HD Receivers. With Whole Home DVR sharing, the HR34 can stream its recordings to up to 3 HD Receivers. So each TV can watch a recording a from the HR34, or a live channel with its own satellite tuner.

sounds good, Thanks for your help. I think I might like this new receiver. I currently have Dish Network and they keep dropping channels. My CW channel is on the chopping block now with them and I have had enough. What do you think about this HR34?
