News Mix channel change stuck
Stuck on CNN.. will not highlight blue indicating it is working.
Multiple resets to no avail.
Side note: the screen saver is probably illegal and at least evil.

First off, I don't understand how the DIRECTV logo is illegal and at least evil. Second off, if the DVR is stuck on a specific channel, the remote probably doesn't work or it isn't paired properly with the receiver. Try to click the "Guide" button on the receiver (not the remote) and see if it shows the Guide. If so, please post back and we'll assist you with programming the remote with the receiver.
CORRECTION: Several people on the forum seem to be having this issue, so it is on DIRECTV's side as far as firmware bugs and the issue should be fixed in the forseeable future (couple days.)

@Mert461 thanks for letting us know your concern, it is very probably that the issues you're experiencing are related with your remote control. We'd like to provide you a couple of steps to pair your remote control with your receiver.

Try this reset ....
Reset your DVR using a Keyword Search for CLEARMYBOX. This will reset the box and rebuild the Guide Database. It won't delete your recordings. It's the same as resetting using the red reset button twice within several minutes.

Dearest detuch254,
First.. my receiver was not stuck on CNN.. The ‘News Mix’ channel was stuck in the default location which happens to be CNN and not allowing the toggling between channels on “News Mix”..
Secondly.. I did not say that the DirecTV logo is possibly illegal and evil.. I said the unwanted screensaver which pollutes the room with terrible commercials from ATT and DirecTV advertisers is. I pay way too much for this service so I may have programming that is COMMERCIAL FREE.. there is no way to override it (if you know of a way 254 I will kiss your (Edited per community guidelines)), which hopefully the FCC will find illegal and the fact that ATT forces these tortuous images down our throats, well that’s the evil part.
I hope this aids in your understanding.

The only way to remove the screensaver ads is to disconnect the internet from the receiver.

Thanks shannon.. but not really a solution given the fact that you lose services and functionality..
Will stick with my assertion that hopefully the FCC will find it illegal and as John Oliver says, "Sorry Big Daddy ATT.. what you are doing is just plain evil"..
DirecTV.. kill the screensaver!

Interesting note: I have 3 other TVs with their own mini boxes—they never had the problem.

You might not like the screen saver, but it certainly is not illegal and "evil" would be quite the exaggeration. When connected to internet you get a mix of advertising other programs and landscape photos. They are using available space on their own product for advertising which is within their right. As long as any advertisements themselves are within regulations, then they've done nothing wrong.
The only way to remove it is to disconnect from internet where you eventually revert back to the traditional logo screen saver.
You do not pay for your programming to be commercial free. Though you may have have a movie or show that is not interrupted by commercials (PPV or movie premium channels), you've paused DirecTV to go do something else. So when you are back press play and move on.
