Nomad periodically loses connection with DVRs
Installed my Nomad on my wired network with 2 x HR24s. Everything works fine for a while but for no apparent reason, the Nomad loses contact with the DVRs. This happens about once a week. The problem can be solved by restarting all three devices but this is highly annoying - as we know, restarting the DVR is a 10+ minute process.
Anybody else seen this? Any ideas?

How are the HR24's connected to the router? You say wired but in what fashion? Directv wired, BB adapter via Whole Home, powerline? The Nomad should be connected to your router via a Ethernet cable. If so, and the router is not malfunctioning, then it may be the HR24's that are dropping the connection.

Hi dcd - many thanks for the reply.
I have two ethernet switches plugged into my router. The two DVRs are plugged into one switch, the Nomad into the other.
I did wonder if the problem would go away if all three devices were plugged into the same switch but I don't have the available ports to try it.
But I don't see why it should help, should it? The devices are all on the same logical network, same subnet, there's no fancy addressing going on.
Does this help any?

Absolutely, or at least maybe. The way you have your system wired all of the streamed content must pass through your router. I would get the Nomad on the same switch as the HR24's if I could. You can always add a third 4 port switch, connect it to one of the ports you are currently using and keep it for exclusive use of Directv devices. I'm running three switches on my network and nary a worry. This is the one I use.

Hi, I'm connected through whole home DVR and have two dvrs on the same switch as the nomad, and I constantly have the problem you describe, with Nomad frequently losing contact with them, even though they never go off of the whole home dvr system

Well, update is that I reconfigured my network last weekend such that all three devices (1 x Nomad, 2 x DVRs) are now on the same switch, which is then plugged into the router.
Still OK after three days but let's see if it lasts.
Alleybj - your response does not make me confident that it *will* last... 😞

I wouldn't pay too much attention to "me too" posts. The alleybj poster is running Ethernet cables to switches on a Whole Home system which clearly makes his system jury rigged in some fashion. (Whole Home uses either a DECA BB adapter or a WiFi CCK to connect the system to the router)

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.
