Off-air RF change local station HR20/H20
Directv did not update the RF channel when our local CBS affiliate changed frequency from 7 to 8 back in November 2020. The guide info is there, but it’s trying to tune the wrong frequency. Cannot get DTV to fix it! What can be done?

Call the station and talk to the station engineer. They need to inform directv of the frequency change.

In most cases you have to recan the OTA channels to fix this.

No, the HR20 DVR does not have a scan feature. All tuning info comes through the guide.

rescan would only be relevant if the OP was using an AM21 or LCC to get local channels off-air.

TexasBrit; you are correct. The non-DVR H20 DOES have a rescan capability.

Impressed that your HR20 and H20 still work as that is several generations of equipment ago. Some side info just in case per that old of equipment.
Those should still be covered under the lease warranty (provided you didn't purchase to own them originally). Last models made are HR24 and H25 respectively for regular HDDVR and HD non-DVR receivers. (Since the HR22 they also have a 500GB Hard Drive compared to the 320GB your HR20 has).
Newer models would need the discontinued AM21 (or for later Genies the LCC that is in testing) to integrate off-air channels with the guide.
If you ever consider a Genie upgrade, only replace the H20. The Genie can work with the HR20 (oldest HDDVR it supports). Otherwise if either box stops working, then just call DirecTV for a warranty replacement as upgrade is optional.
