Old Equipment
I have an old 18" circular dish with a single lnb. I've been away from Directv a long time but planning to return.
Question. Is the old, single-channel lnb still useable or will I require a new one?
Obviously, I will need a new receiver but hope to be able to use the old dish and maybe the lnb.

DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 SD channels and removed all local channels from the 101 sat that dish gets but it will continue broadcasting some channels in MPEG4, you need a slimline dish to get local channels and only when you are in their spot beam. All Genies that you may get require a slimline dish.

DirecTV has been shutting down the ancient MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. This means you will need a new receiving dish.
Boxes must be SWM and HD capable. Even you had any compatible ones in the mix, they no longer reactivate old boxes to ensure you are using current compatible equipment. Old boxes are returned or recycled now, with owned options for boxes gone as well.
Depending on how long you've been gone, you may have to apply as a new customer. This would put you on the current billing model. Not a big deal as base costs between old and new billing model for TV fees and receiver services only comes to $1 difference in the end.
I would suggest to carefully review the channel lineup as there has been a change to packages offered as well as some channels have moved around. As always, fully and carefully read the order confirmation before you are installed.

TNX so much. I was hoping to be able to use some of the components I already own but it looks like technology has, once again, left me in the dust. LOL

Sometimes tech can catch up to us. Fortunately, satellite tech doesn't advance quite as fast as some other things.
2007 launches HD
2015 stops offering SD-only service.
2019 starts shutting down the MPEG-2/SD-only feeds (completion has slowed)
And SD-only TVs stopped being made over a decade ago.
Boxes from 2007 are still in use as long as they are H or HR models (and in special setups R22 being MPEG-4 capable). So the change requiring a new dish is thankfully just a change in an era and not often.
You're welcome for the info. Any other questions come up, let us know and we'll try to help.
