pairing a directv universal remote to a onn soundbar

If it is the actual universal remote (RC6X series), then it can be programmed to other devices. However if it is the new RC7X series (Genie or "peanut" style), that is only for DirecTV and the TV set itself.  The new one is not universal.

Yes @kwhitesell2_ that remote is capable of being programmed to work other devices such as your Onn Soundbar. Now, just go to the Remote Setup of your receiver to initiate the process.

Do I need a code to program the Onn sound bar into the directv remote ? I’m so sorry to trouble you, I am trying to do this for the first time ever , so I’m not really sure about what I’m trying. Your help is greatly appreciated. 

The on-screen instructions will list a code and how to input it. So go into the menu of your box, go into the Remote Control section and follow the prompts to select device and brand to get the instructions and code for it.

You can also follow the link to the remote control codes and follow instructions there as well. It has a link for the RC66.

This is so frustrating ! I don't see a link and have looked everywhere trying to find the directv code for Onn , all to no avail !

I used that but didn't see Onn in the list and when I typed it in no code came up . I'm so sorry to be such a bother.
