Pathetic

I was laid off my job last year and my direct tv service. I have made several attempts to get back in good standing with direct tv with no resolve.  It's pretty pathetic that during this crisis,  a company that large and constantly says "we are here for you " is only interested in a profit.

TV is not classified as an essential service so there are no protections in place to require them to provide service you are not paying for.

When it comes to past due, they can only give so much leeway before interruption. In the end they cannot simply float a service you aren't paying for, nor should they be expected to. Pay TV is luxury entertainment, not an essential service.

While the account is still fully active you could see about reducing service, even all the way down to the Family package. If you could cover the current balance in full, you could see about suspending for up to 6 months ($7 per month vacation hold) to give more breathing room.

Your job situation is understandably frustrating. But in the end it is your responsibility to manage your finances, not theirs.
