Picture quality with a Gemini piggy-backed to a Genie DVR on Sat
I have had my TV (4K) connected to a Genie DVR with Sat connection for several years. I have always had great picture quality on live and recorded shows. I recently added the Gemini piggy-backed to the Genie. I have had a downgrade in perceived picture quality. I went through the Display settings in the Gemini menu to the resolution settings and it on the highest 4K p60 setting. I am wondering if maybe the cable between the two boxes is maybe getting some signal loss. I have not pulled the boxes back out to try to separate them for testing picture since I had to make several support calls to get the system synced. I used all the cables that came with the unit. Any suggestion?

What do you mean by "piggybacked"?
How exactly is the new Gemini connected?

Yes they do call it colocated. I have an ethernet cable connecting the two boxes and the hdmi going to tv.

The picture is not horrible but looks like maybe 720p instead of hd

With Genie being co-located you have a regular Genie. Is it the HR54?
Yes 720 is the lowest resolution of HD. But if picture degraded after co-locating the Gemini the question is what actual resolution is being passed through.

Yes, I have the HR54-500. Since the Gemini is the device connected to the HDMI cable I thought the fact that the Gemini settings says that the Display is set to 4K p60. That is the highest setting in the menu. I "seemed" better with just the Genie HDMI connection. The TV is a Samsung 4K smart tv. I can't see where in the tv menus to see anything about the signal coming in. I appreciate any help the forum can offer. My steps will be to pull it apart and do individual connections instead of colocated to test.

AFAIK when the Gemini is colocated DTV turns off the HR54 video/audio output so you don't pay the additional TV fee for the HR54.
