Play back failed

im back lol. Ever since i upgareded in sept 2018 my tvs will work fine for a couple of months, and than i get a play back failed error for a couple of months, than it will fix itself for a couple of months. Ive had service people out and changed the receiver and the same problem happens they check everything and say that everything is working. I can reboot the tower and it will work for twenty four hours. Ive tried moving the genies to no avail. Cant wait for sept. 2020 so i can get rid of this junk. Any ideas ?

What models are your Mini Genie Clients?

Do they all have the issue?

By tower do you mean you have the Genie-2 (HS17)?

After the main Genie was rebooted did you then reboot the Clients?

Was reboot normal red button reset, unplugging power cord for 20 seconds, or both?

Is coax finger tight to all boxes?

Which "receiver" was replaced?

Any other troubleshooting you have tried?

The main Genie is the "server" so there is a comunication issue in the system somewhere. If it is the HS17 that you have, then that is likely the issue. With an ongoing problem I would see if DirecTV would swap you to a regular Genie setup. If they do it would be the 2nd or 3rd generation (HR44 or HR54) depending on stock, or HR54 guranteed if any of your Clients are the 4K model (C61K). Not a guarantee they will do the swap, but with this issue I would certainly ask.

Wish DirecTV would not continue in a Client only direction. Genie with HDDVRs is the most capable and reliable setup.

I'm leaning towards that is the problem. The Headless Server (HS17) has not bulit up a strong reputation, for good reason. Being the first of this type, hopefully like the 1st generation of the regular Genie line that any later models have huge improvements. However a regular Genie and 2 HDDVRs allready has more capability than the Genie-2 can have being a Client only setup.
