Previous installation filter

I have purchased a home in a development. Ordered service from Directv and the tech arrived and said he cannot install because the previous installation company had a filter that blocks them from being able to install?

Where is this filter, or is it the LNB?

The old company was fired from the development and no longer services the area.

Sounds like you have an MDU set up that DTV is not allowed to work on.  You have to find out who took over the service contract.

Almost like an MDU, they are 4 connected condos , but each has its own dish and LNB.

Hello @GeneK . Thank you for reaching us.

We acknowledge the exact and immediate response of @shannon02.

The best option to resolve your issue is to talk to the landlord of your condo and check who ordered the service. Once you have the details, you could search for any TV service providers you prefer.

AFAIK there are no filters or LNBs that block DTV service so the tech knows it is an MDU setup with several dishes or they didn't want to get payed to install it.

There is no landlord. There is no MDU setup, those are at the apartments and I am aware of how they operate.

Sounds like the tech just did not want to do the work. You can clearly see 4 separate reflectors, one on the roof of each unit. That is fine. We are removing all of it. Thanks anyways

A normal MDU would be a single receiving dish feeding multiple residences. So each having their own separate dish shouldn't be a technical or permission issue, but perhaps more work for the tech then they were expecting.

I have my doubts on the tech's answer. I lean towards he didn't want to do the work for some reason.
