Programming the RC 7 1 to work only my TV
So I have the RC71 remote and I do not have the DVR or genie whatever I only have my TV and I wanted to control only my TV without the satellite box how do I do it

Did you ever have a genie or client connected to your tv ? If so was the remote programmed to the tv?

You have to have a DTV Genie receiver to program the RC71 to the TV.

You can easily program your remote by entering a 5 digit code. Press and hold the mute and select button until the light double blinks. Enter the first digit and pause a couple seconds before entering the next 4. If you have one of the following brands you can enter the appropriate code and the remote will not only control on/off and volume but also the off-air channels.
If it is not one of these brands you can still program it to control on/off and volume. Google "DirecTV remote control code lookup" for a handy tool to find the appropriate code. If it is a Vizio you might try the LG code listed above. Post your TV brand if you are unsuccessful.

I see in another post your TV is Sanyo. Try 10154. So press mute and select at same time and hold until light double blinks. Press 1 and pause a couple seconds before entering remaining digits. That should program remote for on/off and volume.
