Receiver freezing

My receiver has been freezing up for about a month now.  I have checked all the cables, pressed the reset button, unplugged it, gone to the website to reactivate it, and even changed the batteries in the remote, but nothing has worked.  I have do these things (usually pressing the reset button) 5 to 6 times a day.  What do I need to do to get a replacement receiver?

Call DirecTV to request a replacement Receiver/DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.  Or ~$50 to have a tech come replace it for you.

I have been having the same problem for two months.  I have called in twice to report the problem and they just keep telling me to reset the box.  Calling to request a replacement is not that easy.  I am paying for the protection plan and they will still not send me a replacement.  They said they they didn't have enough documentation that there is a problem and if I wanted a new box I had to pay for it.  I would say that is pretty horrible customer service.
