Recording channels I don't subscribe to

Hi-

I've been trying to figure something out - when I set up an autorecord for a keyword - for example "football" - shows get recorded on channels that I don't subscribe to.  So, I constantly end up having to delete a bunch of "blank" recordings.

Is there any way to prevent recording of channels that I don't have a subscription to (or limit recordings to channels I receive)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That's the big drawback to keyword recording.  Unfortunately there's no way to filter recorded channels to just those you subscribe to.  But what many of us do is check the DVR's To Do List once a week or so and delete those unwanted recordings ahead of time.

Thanks - that's what I've been doing. It' a bit of a hassle, though.  I was hoping there'd be enough logic for it to realize that I don't "have" that channel.

What if I blocked the channel via parental controls or something like that?

Nope, that won't make a difference either.

There is no, and I repeat no, way to set up the system to reliably record sporting events automatically.  They are not part of a series, so no series setup is possible.  In the example posted here the DVR will be busy recording 24/7 and will record all sorts of junk you don't want.

I follow Florida college football (except Miami).  Once a week I do a search of Florida/sports/football, then South Florida and finally Florida State.  If the games are on a channel that I receive and are not blacked out, I'm good to go.  Doing the setup the way you're trying might catch those games, but they would have to sandwich in with games from the other 47 states plus all the football talk shows.
