Remote Replacement

the process on DIRECTV website is frustrating.  The process appears to be fairly simple until you ask a question,

then its access denied.   It doesn't know your logged in because it asks you to log in.  If I'm logged out and try to log in the error message is the same.  Access denied.  Anyone have a solution or suggestion.  Reaching out this this company is impossible.

Website is being updated because of the new co-owner. Full funtionality is intermittent.

Remotes are $15, though cheaper through other retailers (assuming because they have a bulk-order agreement). However, if you are paying for the equipment protection plan that covers remotes and you call DirecTV to order.

Thank you for this response.  DIRECTV website mention $0 for a remote replacement.

I'll have to check if I have a protection plan.  Thank you for that tidbit.

If I do order a remote from elsewhere, can you suggest where I look for info to configure remote for family room?  There are 2 TVs here with DIRECTV and as I understand it their configured differently.

Other retailers that sell electronics (Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.). Just make sure it is the right series of remote for your equipment.

If logged into your account online and it shows $0, that suggest you have the protection plan (unless webstite in error which can happen with the recent updates).

As a note the protection plan is $8.99 a month ($107.88 a year). That covers remotes ($15), service calls ($99), and delivery of replacement boxes ($19.95). As remotes are cheaper through those other retailers, and you should not constantly need service calls or replacement boxes (plus both come with a 90 day coverage), I find the protection plan in general to not be worth it. For some having a known set cost every month, even if they pay more (a lot more) over time, allows them to manage their finances easier so it has its place.
