Replacement HR24-100 DVR
I have a HR24-100 DVR that is not working and I need to have it replaced.
On 6/18 I communicated through chat and signed up for the protection plan. I was told that a replacement unit was being shipped out. No order ever showed up in my account and I never received anything.
On 7/1 I chatted again they assured me they would get a HR24-100 DVR sent to me. The next day I received a Genie-Mini. I cannot use a Genie Mini
On 7/2 I catted again and eventually had someone call me back. They assured me they would get a HR24-100 DVR sent to me. A few days later I received a SECOND Genie-Mini. I cannot use a Genie Mini.
On 7/7 I called. The girl I talked to had her supervisor double check the order and assured me they would get a HR24-100 DVR sent to me. A few days later I received a THIRD Genie-Mini. I cannot use a Genie Mini.
Is there anyone at this company that can get me what I need?

Sounds like the chat agent scammed you into a unneeded protection plan as well as an upgrade (24 month agreement upon box being activated). You will need to call DirecTV to resolve this.
I recommend against using Chat for situations like this, poorly trained agents, and the transcripts are not saved on your account. So only if you keep a copy do you have a record of what was "said".
There is no guarantee it would be an HR24-100 as you get what is next available. But the -100 is just the manufacture code (which company made it for DirecTV). The HR24 is the last regular HDDVR made, all others before it (HR23, HR22, etc.) no longer available from DirecTV. But they are not making more of them, so once they run out then a Mini Genie (if you have a Genie to begin with) may be an option.

This is a customer to customer forum not DTV support with no access to DTV. DTV can't send a specific model manufacture you get an HR24 made by whatever that is next up, but the problem maybe DTV doesn't have any HR24s in stock.

If they ever update the setup to allow multiple Genies on the account (no Mini Genies), that would resolve the issue of discontinued regular HDDVRs being low on stock (if not completely out).
But sending a Mini Genie Client is a downgrade as no tuners or recording space since it uses those of the main Genie. A HDDVR (HR20 thru HR24), or even the special R22 (HDDVR in hiding), provides more capability than a Client and certainly is more reliable.

Juniper, thank you for your responses. I did get a phone call back from them on my third attempt and called them on my fourth attempt, so this was not all over chat.
When I was told I should sign up for the protection plan, I was also told I could cancel within 30 days for no charge. AT that point this should have all been resolved by then, so if I can cancel it was not a scam.
This DVR is the only receiver connected to the particular dish it is on, and I have no other wiring or wifi signal to the area where it is located, so I cannot use a Genie-Mini. I could use a Genie, but as you stated, they won't send me another one on the same account.

shannon02, thank you for your rply. I realize this is a customer to customer forum not DTV support with no supposed access to DTV, but I have seen AT&T/DTV representatives comment on other post so I thought it was worth a shot. I also had hopes that someone else may have gone through something similar and could offer a means of contacting someone that could help me.
They have repeatedly told me they are sending a HR24 and I repeatedly get Genie-Minis. If they don't have them it seems like they would tell me that.

The equipment protection plan has a 30 day no charge/no claim period (similar to insurance). Some agents as a courtesy have credited the box delivery or service call upon signing you up. Supposedly this is frowned upon (if not supposed to happen) as is "buying" your sign up. Delivery of a box is just $19.95, or service call $99, which is cheaper than what you pay for the protection plan over time.
Understand the further concern with the separate dish. Another reason receivers are better than Clients. If the main dish has a HDDVR in addition to the Genie, you could swap that to the 2nd dish and put Mini Genie on the main dish, but that I would only consider as a last resort.
Call DirecTV back and when you get the voice system say "cancel" as hopefully a more experienced retention agent can fix this. You are requesting a warranty replacement on your HDDVR, not replacing a Mini Genie Client nor "upgrading" your HDDVR to one. Because even over the phone messed up, I would consider requesting a supervisor.
Since customer support doesn't really have a history of callbacks, and that was initiated from Chat which as I understand to be greatly (if not solely) outsourced, I suspect that was outsourced as well.
