Return equipment
I need to return my equipment. I have gotten nothing. I need to know where I can return the equipment. I’ve called several times and they said it will be in the mail. I’ve gotten no return labels at all. Please help me get this equipment back to you.

Hello @Rosinski50
Returning your equipment is fast and easy. Simply bring your unboxed equipment and account number to a FedEx Office Print and Ship Center or The UPS Store. You will receive a receipt that confirms your return. For more information, please visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093574 If you have any other questions, we are here to help. What are the receiver models of ALL of the equipment that you currently have? It may not have to be returned to directv if the equipment is non-returnable.

I was about to post the same question. I cancelled my satellite server a week ago and still haven't received any email or letter about what needs to be returned. I have the following equipment:
HR54-200
HR44-500
HR24-200
C41-500

The HR54 is returnable and since you can't have 2 Genies on the same account that HR44 needs to be rechecked. The HR24 is not returnable and the C41 is iffy but a UPS/FedEx store may still take them.

I would double check those model numbers. DirecTV only allows a single Genie on the account so you shouldn't have both an HR44 and HR54 (unless you replaced the earlier one and hadn't returned at that time).
The HR54 should be returnable. Everything else may not be required, but no reason with keeping them. Take them all to a participating return shipper with your account number. Anything they don't take, hold for a couple months to be safe and then you are good to recycle.

Yes, my HR44 failed and they sent HR54 replacement. I still had issues and decided to cancel my service the next day. So I should just be able to take it all to UPS Store and have them send it back?

If anything take the HR54, HR44, and HR24 to the UPS Store for acceptance. I don't even think they want the C41, debatable on the HR24 if they want it back but I'd bring it just in case. Be sure to keep your receipt as it is your proof of return.

I also took pictures of the model and serial tag, not just the receipt that I sent something to DTV
So it appears if they really did not want it, they never acknowledge receipt, another poor customer practice.
Called on the phone, they told me to return, nothing else.

At this point, DirecTV should be excepting nothing older than SWM-only boxes. But as the line on returnable has shifted a bit in the last couple years, I would take all boxes HR24 and newer to the shipper to be sure.
Absolutely keep receipt showing everything they took possession of. Anything the shipper doesn't take, keep for a couple months before recycling to be on the safe side.

My shipper (UPS) was clueless, except that it was free shipping. I could have sent 5 pounds of dog droppings as long as it was in a box that said DirecTV somewhere!

You are not supposed to box anything UPS/FedEx scans the receivers into the DTV system then bulk returns them to DTV so it would appear that wasn't an UPS store but a drop off place.

The new (well since AT&T took over) return process is you take your DirecTV boxes to a participating The UPS Store or FedEx location. They scan in the serial numbers. There is no tracking number or return box as it is a bulk return. This is the return process AT&T used for their products that they added DirecTV to.
They still use the old process if you are over 10 miles away from a participating shipper. You request a return kit, which is a prepaid box sent to you by FedEx that gets returned by USPS (post office, not UPS).
Most likely you went to a location that didn't participate in the return program. If you did, then the employee was unjustifiably clueless.

Shannon, you just misunderstand...
I took 2 Directv boxes (one a receiver and one a dvr), so my comment was: I I took a black metal box that said DirecTV to the UPS store, they did not check the model or serial or anything.
I'm responding to YOUR post:
"The HR54 is returnable and since you can't have 2 Genies on the same account that HR44 needs to be rechecked. The HR24 is not returnable and the C41 is iffy but a UPS/FedEx store may still take them."
By saying, the UPS store would basically take ANY black box that even looked close, they NEVER looked or asked about the model number
THUS, my tongue in cheek post that they would accept a box of dog poop as long as it said DirecTV..
Also, why do you have to accuse people of not telling the truth? Do I have to post my pictures and ups receipts to make you stop insulting me?

Nobody insulted you or accused people of not telling the truth in this thread.
Because of the earlier posting mentioning both an HR44 and HR54, then information was missing as you cannot have 2 Genies. Turned out was just a warranty replacement and the prior box hadn't been sent back yet.
I wouldn't expect UPS to ask about the model number, but simply if the serial number listed it as returnable or not per their information from DirecTV.
It seems you are reading more into what has been posted in this thread, and possibly responses intended for the earlier posters. If the latter, then yes using the mention option would be suggested for all to make sure who is being responded to when there are multiple people in the thread.

I called DirecTV, no return box, they wanted the items back after I gave the model numbers. "Just take to UPS or FedEx"
THIS IS TRUE
this is what Shannot said: "so it would appear that wasn't an UPS store but a drop off place."
So he is saying I am lying.... period...
So you don't believe me either... tough...
