returning equipment

I received a replacement Genie HD DVR and need to return the original one.  The problem is that there was no return label in the box.  I need a label so that I can take to the post office and return before my time runs out.

Depends on the model. The original HR34 is junk now. The HR44 was made non-returnable this year, but they might still accept back.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

@DanandTheresa

If account was canceled months ago then did the account get charged a non-return fee (NRF)? If so you could try returning to get that charged reversed, but depending on how many months it may be too late.

However if no NRF was billed, then the boxes weren't returnable. Dispose of access card(s) securely like you would a credit card and recycle the boxes. That is the same procedure if it is too late to send back models that were returnable.

@DanandTheresa   The window for returning equipment was upped to 60 days during Covid but certainly not months and months.

LEASED EQUIPMENT RETURN, NON-RETURN FEES.

What happens when I stop being a customer? Unless we instruct you in writing not to return your Leased Equipment, Leased Equipment must be returned in good working order, normal wear and tear excepted. If we haven't received your Leased Equipment within 21 days of termination of your DIRECTV Service, or if the Leased Equipment is returned in damaged condition, we will charge you $45 for each standard DIRECTV Receiver, each HD DIRECTV Receiver and each Genie Mini, and $135 for each DVR, HD DVR, Genie® HD DVR and/or Genie 2 DIRECTV Receiver, so please attend to your Leased Equipment return promptly. We reserve the right to charge these fees to the credit or debit card you have on file with us. If you are leasing a DVR, HD or HD DVR DIRECTV Receiver (collectively, “Advanced Equipment”) and decide to terminate HD Access and/or any Advanced Equipment related DIRECTV Service, as applicable, you agree to return that Advanced Equipment (and it will be replaced with standard DIRECTV Receiver(s) if you are not terminating your DIRECTV Service), in accordance with this paragraph, or we will charge you the fees stated in this paragraph. Visit directv.com/legal or call 800.288.2020 for details.
