reverting back to an HR-54

i was just upgraded to the genie 2 server. and the one main thing that was NOT disclosed to me is that i CANNOT add a seperate stand alone HD box for camping and tailgating to my acct. i love DTV but i don't love em that much to pay a second bill for an extra box. so what would be the best way to swap this junk out. i hate dealing with the CSR'S as most of em are clueless and have rocks for brains at best..

well, this is a problem. It's unlikely they will swap it. Remember that havingn a receiver away from the house for tailgating etc is against Directv's terms of service so they aree unlikely to do it.

i ment for my RV i through in tailgating as an example. so far i have 2 choices suspend my home service while camping or the second would be to be to open up a second acct and pay all over again. i love DTV but i don't love em that much to pay 2 bills every month. in fact i would more than likely drop em first if that's how they want to play

This is why I never suggest the Genie-2 (HS17) as it only allows Clients.

A Genie (such as HR54) and 2 HDDVRs is 9 tuners which is more than the Genie-2 supports as It is hard capped at 7. With boxes working independently, even an HD non-DVR in the mix, a regular Genie allows a more reliable setup.

Once upgrade is done there is no free swap back. You would need to wait until your next free upgrade to start switching back (unless they have an actual better option at that time) or pay the one-time lease costs to do so early.

The only chance you might have around this is speaking to the retention department to see if they could help out (even partway) on ordering back to a traditional setup since you weren't educated properly on how the Genie-2 works. When you call and get the voice system say "cancel" which should route directly. Not a guarantee that they (or one of their supervisors) can do this, but it is a shot.
