Rural Satellite user and Gemini product

I am a direct tv satellite customer because I live in a rural area without high speed internet provider availability.  I need a new TV, which are all 4K.  So I called Direct TV customer service to see if the Genie product I use now can supply 4K to the new TV I am considering.  Customer Service said to change my current Genie box to the Gemini product.  How would that work if I do not have high speed internet provider available?  Is Direct TV providing it via satellite?  Confused in Rural IL

What model is your current Genie DVR?  Only the HR54 and HS17 provide 4K channels when used with a 4K-compatible mini Genie client device.

Thanks for the quick response, @litzdog911.
Hi, @Ruff44. Sorry for the confusion. DIRECTV exclusively offers TV services. We also offer access to 4K content, but it requires an internet connection, and you must have a compatible 4K resolution receiver. You can visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000071460 for additional information. Ariane, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Gemini is a Client, similar to a Mini Genie. The difference is that it also functions as a streaming box (Roku, Firestick, etc.).

You do NOT need to change equipment because you've got a 4K TV. Only if you want to use the few 4K channels do you get a specific setup.

Though 4K TVs are becoming more common, HD TVs that are not 4K are still around. Just takes a bit of searching and comparing to find what works best for you.

If you need any other guidance on your setup, please post the model numbers of each box you have. That way we know what you're working with.
