Yes, you need to peak the readings on the 101º satellite, then use the fine adjustment knobs to peak the 99 and 103º HD satellite readings. Be sure that you dish mast is perfectly plumb. And you'll need B-Band Converter modules for each of the HR20's SAT INPUTs.

my pole is perfectly plumb , what is a good number to shoot for on the signal strength on sate 101 ? so your saying just by having a higher signal my chances are better at getting my 99 and 103 ?

kind of. But your still need to "dither" the dish so you can center the dish across all sats.

A well-aligned dish has signals on most 101 transponders at 100 or very close. A few will be lower or even zero; they are "spotbeams" pointed at other cities. Unless you are getting this sort of numbers on 101, you will not be able to get 99c/103ca/103cb at the high 80s to mid 90s which is optimum for those signals. Don't worry about 99s/103s, they are all spotbeams.

No, that's not what texasbrit is saying. It's the 99c/103ca/103cb satellites that beam your HD channels, not the 99s/103s "spotbeam" satellites.

David, Just a word to put all this in perspective. The dish has a reflector that is specifically shaped so as to maximize the signals from all of the various satellites simultaneously. If you have weak signals on one satellite, it will negatively impact the signals from other satellites because for any given location there is only one ideal position (orientation) for the dish reflector to be in.
