Signal Loss / No Signal Error 771
I know this has been covered in multiple discussions but so far I have not seen anything about my specific problem. Recently started to get error "771 SIGNAL LOSS" on some channels and no signal at all on others. This error message comes and goes every 10 seconds to one minute constantly. I searched the forums and did all the suggested troubleshooting stuff like resetting of receiver & power injector and tightening of all connections from dish to receiver. I get good signal strength (85-95) on satellites 99 & 101 but nothing on 103 so some channels do not come in at all. I've tried to adjust the dish to maximize signal strength on 99 & 101 but still get all zeros for signal strength on 103. I thought there could be a tree blocking line of sight since this problem started recently so I cut that tree down with no change to the above.
Right now I cant give you the exact equipment models I have because I'm not at home but this is a less than 1 year install with an HD/DVR receiver and newer style dish. Everything was working OK recently when the dish was relocated after a roof replacement. Seems strange I can't get ANY signal at all on 103 with good strength on 99 & 101.
Any suggestions what else I can try before calling for service.
Thanks,
Bruce.

Thislooks like an alignment issue. You align the dish correctly on 101 and 99/103 just fall into place. There are video on you tube if you want to try this yourself, otherwise call DirectV for a service visit. $100 or free if you have the protection plan.

I appreciate the response and have a question....
.....if I am already receiving a good signal on 99 and 101, should I at least be getting something more than "0" on 103?

Yes, you should. Unless something is blocking your dish's view of the 103º satellite. Or something is wrong with your dish LNB or other equipment.

I downloaded the Satellite Pointer IOS app this weekend and found the dish is looking 10 feet into the tree line. This dish was just relocated 3 months ago off the new metal roof to a ground mounted pole by the AT&T installer. Don’t you think the installer would have anticipated the trees leafing out in the spring? It’s sad when something so basic is overlooked.

Had the installer out, he verified the dish is looking into a stand of trees and the dish should never have been placed where it was. I will be cutting some trees this weekend and have the dish moved next week.
